A Hunger Strike for farmers
Social activist, Anna Hazare is all set to go on an indefinite hunger strike against the Centre in Delhi today. The protest will come to pass at Ramlila Maidan, where his formerly protest demanded the government to investigate corruption cases. He will be first visiting Raj Ghat then via Shaheedi Park to Ram Lila Maidan, where he will make a start to his strike. For a clearer planning and discussion, Anna Hazare’s aides and representatives of farmers’ organizations together arranged a committee meeting at New Maharashtra Sadan on Thursday (Yesterday).
Indian Freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were hanged to death by British on 23rd March 1931. On Occasion of Martyr’s Day, remembering these freedom fighters, Anna Hazare has taken a perfect step of fighting in order to bring a competent Lokpal and ensure better production cost for farm produce, Hazare’s aide said.
Anna Hazare has always been demanding to set up a Lokpal at the Centre and Lokayuktas in states. At that time, his target was Congress-led government, now it’s expected to be the BJP government he is targeting. In 2011, Anna Hazare’s protest aiming at the increasing corruption cases during the UPA rule was supported by millions across the country. That anti-corruption protest formed a new party – Aam Aadmi Party, which is now governing Delhi and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as one the key organizer and aide of Anna Hazare.
Well, thousands of people in support of the protest will attend today’s indefinite hunger strike, as claimed by the organizers.
