Preparations for Christmas can be seen underway as of last week. Christian Nashikites are awaiting another jubilant aura this Christmas. Churches and many homes are being decorated well again. Many Christian Nashikites can be seen following a lent of 25 days till the date of Christmas, on which days, families pray for their family members.
Prayers will be conducted by priests at the infant Jesus shrine where the shrine will be seen adorned and a crib will be laid to denote the birth of Christ. Christians will visit the shrine throughout day and light candles where mass prayers will be conducted in morning and at noon. Different churches in Nasik will organize their own programs including Christmas crib and carol singing competitions. Gifts and greetings will then be exchanged on the eve of Christmas.
On December 26, as a part of celebration, cultural programs for children will be conducted by some churches including Holy cross church, St. Andrew’s Church, St. Anna’s church. Sweets and delicacies will be relished by friends and families in Christian homes. Cribs and Christmas trees will be seen decorated in a good taste by children. Glimmering crackers will be lit making the moment twinkle like that very star topped on a shimmering Christmas tree. Wait for that hoary man on red dress from North Pole with exquisite jingles is on. Well sleigh bells have started to ring somewhere and will soon be reaching in Nashik. All we have to do is, wait for that delightful eve of merry surprises… Merry Christmas!
